The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Tips for surviving Hyrule

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, according to several reviews, is a wonderful video game that is designed to bring out the most out of the Nintendo Switch. Now, here’s the thing, the game has a splendid and magical world for the player to explore, but things can go wrong pretty quickly.

For those who are gearing up to take on the world of Hyrule, we have some tips to prepare you for the journey to take down the Beast and ultimately, to survive these dangerous lands.

Zelda: Weapons and combat

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s mechanics are very documented, especially the combat mechanics. Most of what the player will read is about the weapons and combat, but there’s still a lot to the game that does not share right off the bat.

When players come across hard to defeat enemies, we recommend using elemental powers to take them down. An ice-fused arrow or any other ice-fused weapons will freeze them in their tracks, and that’s when the player must go right for the jugular. It’s possible if the player hits a monster before the ice thaws, it could shatter, ending the fight immediately.

Thunder has a similar effect, but instead of freezing, it paralyzes the enemy for a short period. Thunder is also capable of paralyzing enemies to the point where their weapons would fall to the ground.

As for Fire, well, it’s not very useful at all, but can explode barrels and fire, and instantly sending icy enemies to an early hell.

The great Shrines

There’s not much we can say about Shrines in terms of tips, but a few things you’ll need to know.

Now, be sure to arrive at each shrine with a full complement of arrows. This is because there are many puzzles that cannot be solved without arrows. Yes, there are times when the player can throw his or her sword at an area, but arrows are more effective.

The next step we recommend is to grab every chest available in a shrine. Most items inside a chest are useless, to say the least, but some of them won’t be located elsewhere for a long period.

Cooking is important

In the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, food is very important, but for some odd reason, there’s no tutorial on how to cook and how to use different ingredients. For many, the first time they mix different ingredients will turn out badly, but as time goes along, cooking will become a breeze.

Baking stuff is easy for sure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Just drop anything in a fire and voilà, dinner is served. However, if you wish to make something more complex, you’ll need to find yourself a cooking pot. There’s a cooking pot near Old Man’s shack at the Great Plateau, and others are scattered across Hyrule.
