Top 5 future cell phones to look out for later this year

Improved cameras, faster processors, better graphics – these are all things we look for in our smartphones these days. A recent study showed that Americans spend an average on 4.7 hours per day on their smartphones, so of course we want to spend our valuable time on the best devices available.

We also need the best option for security, storage, and even ease-of-use. There’s no sense in having a phone you can’t use, right? 2016 brought us some great phones, like the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and Samsung’s latest line of Galaxy phones.

Of course, these companies are coming back in 2017 to give us even better devices to be jealous of.

Here are the top 5 future cell phones to look forward to in 2017:

iPhone 8/8 Plus (or iPhone X/X Plus)

Apple’s newest flagship device is Expected this year, and it’s rumored to be huge. If the company chooses to keep the chronological order going, the devices are expected to be the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, but rumors have been swirling that the Cupertino-based conglomerate may opt for iPhone X, meant to represent the iPhone’s 10th anniversary.

Expected spec advances include an edge-to-edge screen, advanced Touch ID, and wireless charging. The device has also been speculated to cost around $1,000.

Google Pixel 2

Following in the footsteps of its rival companies, Google is opting to begin releasing its devices chronologically as well. The company’s first flagship device, Pixel, was a huge hit in 2016 and it set the bar for whatever comes next.

The new device is expected to run Android O, which I really hope is also named after a delicious sweet like its predecessors. The operating system is expected to be launched at Google’s I/O conference in May.

Some speculated features of Pixel 2 include waterproofing the device and an improved low-light camera system. It’s also expected to jump $50 from Pixel’s beginning $649 price point.

HTC 11

HTC has had trouble staying afloat in the past few years, but the company is far from giving up. I love to test out their devices when they are released, and have owned a few myself. Known for its original Android skins and cutting edge design, HTC never ceases to fail when they launch a new device.

Their upcoming device, most likely named HTC 11, should be no different. Expected specs to look forward to include a 12-MP back camera and an 8-MP selfie camera, ‘quick charge,’ and 256GB of storage. The device is expected to cost around $699.

LG G6

LG is expected to up their already top-notch game with a few awesome advanced features on their next flagship phone. The company’s G-line of smartphones have been comparable to Samsung’s S-series line, but the are aiming at getting on top with the LG G6.

With advanced features like rapid charging, improved graphics for virtual-reality, and even a rumored iris scanner for unlocking the device, it’s no doubt LG is looking to make a splash in the smartphone manufacture circuit. The device is expected to cost around $750.

Microsoft Surface Phone

When you have something good, work with it until you can no longer compete. That’s the idea Microsoft has with their upcoming smartphablet, the Surface Phone. The phone, like it’s tablet predecessor, is expected to come with a built-in kickstand and Microsoft’s Windows OS.

There is a rumor that the phablet will tout a foldable screen, Surface pen, and USB-C port. The Surface tablet was a huge seller for the company, and if it’s success is any indicator, the Surface Phone could get Microsoft back in the smartphone game. The phablet is expected to start at $699 for the base model, and upwards of $1099 for the top-tier specs.

It seems 2017 is going to bring quite a few delightful surprises in terms of tech, and smartphones may take the lead. We all love the next best thing to come along, and this year will be no different. These 2017 cell phones will have a lot to offer, making choosing between them much more difficult. Which one are you looking forward to most?
