Thync is the first wearable stress relieving device

Thync helps control Stress using the body’s chemical make-up and nervous system.

Background and need for Thync

At least one in every four people suffers from stress in various stages and forms. Stress has negative and diverse effects on the family unit, workplaces and strains relationships to breaking point. It is also the world’s number one cause of suicide in the world. People deal with stress differently. Some turn to alcohol and drugs, and others turn to Prescription Pills for stress relief while others turn to segregating themselves from the rest of the world.  None of these solutions are long term, though. Alcohol, drugs and prescription pills lead to addiction, creating yet another problem. And the cost to the health implications of abuse and rehabilitation of alcohol and drugs is mind boggling.

Thync: the concept

It is against this troubled backdrop that a team of scientists, engineers, and developers met and put their heads together to try and provide technology to fight stress, and alleviate the world’s dependence on alcohol, drugs and prescription pills. After studies, tests and trials spanning five years, Thync was developed. To ensure its efficiency, this technology has been tested for four consecutive years, 400 study arms, 5,500 testing sessions, 1,300 nights of monitoring sleep and 107,000 customer vibe sessions, according to the official website. Neuroscientists were also actively involved in the development of Thync.

How Thync Works

Thync is comprised of 3 simple components, a module which is connected to the strips and a mobile phone app to control the whole contraption. The module fits on the patient’s forehead, the strips, which are adhesive and are attached to the skin, and can be used several times, are placed on the neck area, and the app is then used to control the laid-back and energy vibes.

By selecting specific nerves in the head and neck, Thync develops a proprietary neuron signaling algorithm that lowers stress in the body. It shifts the balance of the autonomic nervous system away from a stressful state, to a restful and relaxed state.

Their studies suggest that Thync was able to lower biochemical markers of stress significantly, and protect the stress response considerably. This includes the heart rate variability and galvanic skin conductance which the electrical charges produced by the skin cause variations the surface behavior. Mood boosting was also another property that Thync showed it can achieve, as well as improving sleep quality and time.

We ‘Thyncs’ it works

Over 120,000 sessions have been logged in by Thync users, and most claim they feel more energized and motivated after just a 15-minute session. Thync has also been endorsed as the official stress reliever solution for Firemen and the Police Force.

The low-level electrical waveforms that Thync emits to the head and neck area have been declared safe by research, with no effect on those areas. There is a disclaimer, though; Thync does not strive to treat or diagnose any medical condition. It is just for relaxation and relief purposes only and is similar to a massage.

The dependence on alcohol and pills to combat high stress levels can now be lowered with technology.
