New Game Releases: February 1st-7th, 2018

Tags: digital

With the Switch continuing to sell briskly, it’s not surprising to see Nintendo’s hybrid hardware receive the bulk of new Digital game releases, with notables like Samurai Shodown II, Crypt of the NecroDancer, and SteamWorld Dig arriving on the platform this week. Owners of other consoles or PC shouldn’t despair. From Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age making its way onto Steam to EA Sports UFC 3 prompting pugilism in the octagon, there’s a decent amount of games inbound.

Robert’s Pick: I absolutely adored SteamWorld Dig when it was originally released on the 3DS, and subsequently made it way onto PCs, Vitas, PS4, and Xbox One, and Wii U. Unsurprisingly, the mix of excavation, exploration, and Metroidvania-like combat has aged exceptionally well, and remains just as compelling nearly five years later. This week, I’ll be revisiting Rusty’s adventures on the Switch, and expect to get sucks into it’s depths once more.
