Former Detroit Lions’ QB Charlie Batch gives fans reminder in advance of SNF game vs. Patriots

On Sunday Night Football, the Detroit Lions will host the New England Patriots at Ford Field. The Lions have never beaten the Patriots at Ford Field and it has been nearly 18 years since they beat them at all. For ‘Throwback Thursday,’ the Detroit Lions tweeted out a highlight video from the game against the Patriots that took place on November 23, 2000 at the Pontiac Silverdome. During that game, the Lions outscored the Patriots 28-3 in the second half on their way to a 34-9 win. #TBT: Relive the #Lions' victory over the New England Patriots from 2000. @Microsoft pic.twitter.com/KwLAeVjjdJ — Detroit Lions (@Lions) September 21, 2018 On Friday, former Lions’ signal-caller Charlie Batch responded to the tweet, reminding us all that he was the quarterback in that game. #FallBackFriday I Cant believe its been 18 years since the Detroit Lions last defeated the New England Patriots. I wonder who the QB was? Oh wait, that was ME 😅🤣🤣 https://t.co/aScObQxZIt — Charlie Batch (@CharlieBatch16) September 21, 2018 During that win, Batch completed 16 of 24 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 17 yards rushing and a touchdown. Making an appearance in that game for the Patriots was Tom Brady, who at that time was the backup to Drew Bledsoe. Brady completed 1 out of 3 passes for six yards in the loss. Since that game, the Patriots have beaten the Lions four straight times, including the only two matchups at Ford Field. BONUS CONTENT: When will the Detroit Lions win their first game? When first evaluating the Detroit Lions 2018 schedule prior to the start of the season, there is no way I would have ever predicted that I would be writing a piece like this. After all, the Lions opened the season at home against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. It seemed like the perfect scenario for a team that had just hired a new head coach. And that scenario seemed to improve even more when the Jets revealed they would be starting rookie quarterback Sam Darnold in their season opener. Embed from Getty Images Unfortunately, Lions’ Nation was completely blindsided when the Jets ran away with a 48-17 win. The loss not only shocked the fans but cause many of them to completely freak out on the team. Some blamed Bob Quinn, some blamed Matt Patricia, and some blamed our best player, Matthew Stafford. The Lions were thought of as a lock to start the season 1-0 and they blew it. In Week 2, it was more of the same as the San Francisco 49ers jumped out to a huge lead on the Lions before holding on for a 30-27 win. The loss not only dropped the Lions to 0-2 but with a tough schedule staring them in the face, many fans are wondering, when will they get their first win of the season?
