Former Oakland Basketball Player Sebastian Bellin Injured In Brussels Terror Attack

Among the 200+ who were injured in the Terror Attack that took place in Brussels, Belgium today was former Oakland University basketball player Sebastian Bellin.

Bellin currently plays for the Gent Hawks in Belgium's professional league.

Oakland University has released a statement on Bellin.

Head coach Greg Kampe and athletic director Jeff Konya have also released statements, which can be read here.

Bellin's former team, BC Oostende, said the following on Twitter:

UPDATE: Sebastian Bellin heeft zijn eerste operatie ondergaan. Er zitten wel nog scherven in zijn been en heup. Hij werd 20m weggeslingerd.

— BC Telenet Oostende (@BCOOSTENDE) March 22, 2016

Roughly translated, the tweet says "UPDATE: Sebastian Bellin underwent his first surgery. There are still shrapnel in his leg and hip. He was thrown 20 meters." An earlier tweet from the team read "We wish our ex-player Sebastien Bellin lots of strength and a speedy recovery!"

We will keep you posted as more becomes available.
