Chile Beat Cameroon to Start Confederations Cup Adventure

South American champion, Chile showcasing their worth in Confederations Cup 2017 as they started their adventure in that competition with all three points.

La Roja started out without their super star, Alexis Sanchez, but remained dangerous going forward and can consider themselves unlucky not to get any goals during the first 45 minutes.

Cameroon national side are obviously no slouch either, but they were also struggling to break down their opponent, especially in the first period which ended in goalless draw.

After the break, both sides continue to push forward vigorously in search for goals, but it was the Copa America winner that finally got their break through.

Sanchez’s entrance midway in that second period simply affected things as Chile looked more sharper and it was his assist which opened the scoring for them as Arturo Vidal heading home the Arsenal man’s cross on 81 minutes.

Juan Antonio Pizzi’s men eventually sealed all three points in stoppage time as they added their second through Eduardo Vargas, making it 2-0 before the final whistle was blown.

It was an entertaining overall, but the new inclusion of Video Actin Replay (VAR) once again creating slight controversies as players were brought to confusion in several goal scoring incidents as they must wait for the VAR decision before knowing what will happen.
