DETROIT, MI. - The Detroit Tigers was looking very strong to contend for their 5th Central Division Title before the Allstar Break going 11-2 to start the season. But with injuries, the trades, and GM stepping down.... something went wrong, Detroit was 44-44 at the break. Since then the Tigers went 15-20 (5 games under .500) and with series losses to Baltimore, Boston, and now Texas, Detroit's Record of 59-64 puts them 7th in chase for a wildcard spot and the window is closing fast. Tigers manager Brad Asmus have to something turn things around by sending Matt Boyd the bump against Texas starter Cole Hamels. Bottom 1st Tigers (2B) Ian Kinsler scores from 3rd on a throwing error by Texas (RF) Shin-soo Choo that sailed into the stands for 1-0 Detroit lead. Top 2nd Rangers (C) Chris Gimenez solo shot to left ties the game at 1 a piece. Detroit regained the lead in the 4th when Tigers (SS) Jose Iglesias RBI single brings in James McCann and Detroit is up 2-1. Top of the 5th for Texas was some controversy when Adrian Beltre did not like the call for strike three and was ejected from the game, manager Jeff Banister came to contest the call and he too was tossed. Texas would take the lead in the 6th on a RBI Double by (1B) Mitch Moreland, 2 runs score and it is now 3-2 Rangers. Texas (DH) Mike Napoli made sure that the Tigers wouldn't come back with a opposite field blast and Texas win 4-2. Texas (SP) Cole Hamels (1-1): 6 innings, 2runs, 2walks, and 2 K's while Detroit's (SP) Matt Boyd (1-4): 6 innings, 3runs, 3walks, and 3 K's. Texas reliever Shawn Tolleson earns the save his 5th this season. Detroit will now travel to Cincinnati for a make up game verses the Reds on Monday @ 6:45PM
