Give Me Three Pairs: Jay-Z Is Down With Big Baller Brand Sneakers

Big Baller Brand. You either support it or you don’t. Jay-Z made it clear that he’s down with the triple Bs when he had a sit-down interview on the Rap Radar Podcast with B Dot and Elliott Wilson. During part 1 of the sit-down interview, Jay-Z showed his enthusiasm and support for Big Baller Brand by announcing that he’s one of the customers that pre-ordered Lonzo Ball’s signature shoe, the BBB ZO2s.

“LaVar Ball said ‘I’m going to start my own company.’ Everybody’s like you should sign with Nike. Now he may go about things wrong. He may have a big mouth. He may rub everything … but I bought three pairs. I didn’t get them, but that man has a vision of his own. Why wouldn’t I support him? He feels like he can move culture and his son got a big enough name and big enough brand that they can do it. Nike had to start somewhere. Why do we get so upset when we, us as a culture, want to start our own shit? That shit is puzzling to me.”

I get where Jay-Z’s coming from, but are the non-BBB supporter’s not supporting because Lavar wants to start his own company, or because he wants to charge $500 for a pair of sneakers, something adidas and Nike rarely ever do. I have a feeling Big Baller Brand would have many more supporters if the ZO2s would retail for $100 instead of $500.

Thoughts?
