These are ‘Memorial Tribute’ uniforms.

The University of Nebraska Huskers and adidas Football today unveiled the new adidas Primeknit A1 ‘Memorial Tribute’ Alternate Uniforms, which will make their on-field debut for the Cornhuskers’ game against Illinois on Saturday, November 10.

Note that World War I ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. A little after World War I ended, the “Spanish Flu” (as it came to be known, although it might have started in Fort Riley, Kansas) killed more people across the planet in four months than World War I did in four years. Our ancestors endured that kind of hell so that we could sit here 100 years later and complain about everything. Thanks, ancestors!

2018 marks 100 years since the culmination of World War I (WWI). The new adidas Primeknit A1 ‘Memorial Tribute’ alternate uniforms pay tribute to the 100^th anniversary of the end of the WWI, while also celebrating Memorial Stadium. The venue was originally named Memorial Stadium to honor the more than 700 Nebraskans who died in WWI and those who served in the Civil War, Spanish-American wars. Memorial Stadium also honors Nebraskans who have served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and more.

Interesting bits about the design!

A new body-mapping jersey design features an all-new ribbed knit pattern on the chest and shoulder pads to produce a refined fit, while knit engineered mesh channels feature Climacool technology to provide enhanced breathability and cooling zones. The development of a new innovative chevron pattern on the chest of the jersey aligns with a player’s shoulder pads and generates increased durability for high-contact zones for protection and the inside of the jersey features silicon grip patterns on the shoulders to lock the pads in place.

Delivering a clean, iconic look, Primeknit finishes inspired by the adidas UltraBOOST and NMD are incorporated into the collar, while sleeve cuff and hem for added comfort and a new infinity neckline eliminates distractions and allows for a full range of motion. Additionally, the revolutionary Primeknit A1 football pants have been re-engineered with just two seams and bonded pockets for added comfort and a clean compression look and feel, along ribbed Primeknit on the knees for added durability.

To complete the head-to-toe look, the team will wear a replica contemporary form 1923 helmet, complete with cream-white stitched strapping details, along with traditional black adizero 5-Star and FREAK cleats.

I am guessing most of you are going to have a problem with the helmet design.

I would have preferred something that represented a Doughboy look, but I’m okay with this.

I am presently typing this while working at home, wearing a bathrobe and the scrubs I got from a hospital visit, therefore I am not exactly what you’d called a beacon of fashion.
