Mike Riley announces leader via Twitter.
The Nebraska Cornhusker Quarterback Battle is over...for now.
Head Coach Mike Riley took to Twitter Wednesday afternoon to announce the starter for the 2017 season.
We met with the QBs and explained the importance of defining a starter at this time. Tanner Lee is our top QB heading into the summer.

Tanner Lee was named the “top QB heading into the summer,” beating out redshirt freshman Patrick O’Brien. Lee, the 2016 transfer from Tulane, sat out last season and, with the help of a waiver from last Fall, has two years of eligibility remaining.
The competition this spring was primarily between Lee and O’Brien, with early enrollee Tristan Gebbia planning to redshirt the 2017 campaign.
Lee finished the spring game last Saturday throwing for 190 yards and three touchdowns on 13 completions in 19 attempts. O’Brien also went over the century mark, going 11-of-17 for 134 yards and a score.
A follow-up tweet from Riley indicated that while a decision was made today regarding the quarterback depth chart, nothing is set in stone.
All of our QBs understand that competition and opportunity is ongoing.#GBR

Lee, the 2016 Nebraska Scout Team Offensive MVP, will shoulder the weight of a Husker offense going into the summer and fall.
