Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-up (9/7/2018)

The NFL regular season is officially underway and it feels like the world is back on its regular orbit (if you’re able to ignore all the political drama going on in Washington D.C.). Speaking of football, the talk of the week was undoubtedly Nike’s new advertisements featuring Colin Kaepernick, who may be making more money from his multi-million Nike deal than he had in the case that any NFL team chose to sign him. But, I have no interest in getting into the politics of that either. Happy Rosh Hashanah to those who celebrate and I hope that everyone has a very enjoyable weekend.

And make sure to stop by the new The Sports Biz (TheSports.Biz) and follow it on Twitter at (@TheSportsDotBiz).

As always, here is the weekly wrap-up:

Football

  • Bell’s agent Adisa Bakari has been hinting that Bell will hold out well into the season [Le’Veon Bell, Steelers Playing NFL’s Dumbest Game of Chicken at the Worst Time].
  • NFL agent Greg Diulus notes that there’s really no more contract that Bell can get from the Steelers at this point [With Le’Veon Bell still a no-show with Steelers, what happens next?].
  • His agent Jordan Woy said as such [Ex Cowboys kicker Bailey has offers from four other NFL teams].
  • His own agent David Mulugheta shows that Thomas isn’t all about the money [Agent praises Earl Thomas for not screwing Seahawks out of money].
  • “Any sports agent will tell you that a great brand endorsement comes down to one thing—authenticity,” states the author of this piece [What Every NFL Player Can Learn From Colin Kaepernick].

Basketball

  • 6 bedrooms, 5,600+ square feet for Mr. Paul [LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul splashes out $4.35 million for second L.A. home].
