“ICC Champions Trophy” is one of the most prestigious cricket events in the world. It is considered to be the second most important and second biggest One Day International cricket event the world, after the “ICC World Cup”. The first ICC Champions Trophy tournament took place in 1998. Since then 7 champions trophy tournaments have been held. And now we are going to witness the eight ICC Champions Trophy tournament. As already mentioned above, up till now, seven ICC Champions Trophy Tournaments have been held. In these seven tournaments, we have had 6 different teams winning the tournament. Australia is the only team that has won the tournament more than 1 time. And India has been able to win the tournament once and it was declared the co-champion in one of the tournaments. • ICC KnockOut Trophy 1998 – The inaugural ICC Champions Trophy tournament was held in 1998 in Bangladesh. At that time the tournament was called ICC KnockOut Trophy. The winner of the tournament was South Africa. They won the final match by 4 wickets. The runners up was West Indies.
• ICC KnockOut Trophy 2000 – This was the second ICC KnockOut Trophy. It was held in the year 2000. This time the host nation was Kenya. The final match of the tournament took place between India and New Zealand. It was a very tough match with India scoring 164 runs. New Zealand were quite impressive in their chase and they managed to chase down this total in 49.4 overs. So New Zealand were crowned the champions of the ICC KnockOut Trophy 2000.
• ICC Champions Trophy 2002 – The third tournament of the ICC Champions Trophy took place in 2002. Sri Lanka hosted the tournament. The much awaited final match of the tournament took place between Sri Lanka and India. However, the match was declared a draw because of rain. And Sri Lanka and India were crowned the co-chmapions of the tournament.
• ICC Champions Trophy 2004 – The 2004 ICC Champions Trophy was held in England. The host side performed well throughout the tournament and faced West Indies in the final. West Indies came out strong in the final. And won the match by 2 Wickets.
• ICC Champions Trophy 2006 – The 2006 ICC Champions Trophy tournament took place in India. Australia were brillinat throughtout the tournament. And they won the tournament by defeating West Indies in the final.
• ICC Champions Trophy 2009 – Held in South Africa, the 2009 version of ICC Champions Trophy was once again dominated by the Australians. The Australian side defeated New Zealand in the final. And Australia was once again crowned the champion of the tournament.
• ICC Champions Trophy 2013 – In the ICC Champions Trophy All winners list 2017, the 2013 edition of the tournament ws won by India. The tournament was held in England and Wales. The finalists of the tournament were India and England. India won the match by 5 runs.
