The 2018 summer transfer window has been very successful for Barcelona with the addition of four new players with weeks to spare.

Expressing his delight with how things progressed for them on the negotiation table, club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, said the club were satisfied but were still monitoring the market.

His words: “As you all know, the transfer window shuts on the 31st August and we’re keeping an eye on the market, but there’s no immediate need to sign anyone.”

“We’re satisfied with our business in this window, both with the arrivals and departures, and I want to thank the people who are often forgotten about: our CEO, Oscar Grau, the managing director, Pep Segura, our director of football Eric Abidal and his assistant, Ramon Planes.”

Apart from the arrivals, the club have also seen some departures even though they were unable to get permanent transfers for some of the players.

Ousmane Dembele’s future at Barcelona has been uncertain with previous interests from Arsenal and now Paris Saint Germain.

Barcelona had turned down a loan offer from the Gunners for the attacker. Arsenal had reportedly offered to pay a 10 million pounds loan fee this season and make a the deal permanent with a massive bid of at least 80 million next summer.

With the Premier League’s transfer window shut, Barcelona’s only real threat remains PSG.

Barcelona have openly expressed their desire to keep the 21-year-old, but MARCA reports that the decision is not an unanimous one.

Barcelona chiefs are at odds over whether to sell or keep the player who had a tough first season at the club.

It is not clear which of the Barcelona decision makers are in support for/against Dembele’s Barcelona stay, but it is believed that Josep Maria Bartomeu, is still on the player’s side.
