One of the toughest jobs in football is being a Referee as there’s just so much depending on your final decision.
No one said it was going to be easy, but the fans expect the very best to make it to the highest leagues.
The Technical Committee of Referees have announced the best referee for the 2-16/17 La Liga season. And they award went to Alejandro José Hernández Hernández.
Barcelona fans would remember him well for the role he played in their 1-1 away draw with Real Betis last February. Hernadez Hernandez and his other officials failed to spot a Clear goal for Barcelona.
He recently admitted his error, telling Movistar Futbol: “When you make the call and you see the replay you are very touched, because your professional prestige as a referee is at stake.”
“When I saw the replay on TV I was shaken. The goal was clear as day.”
“It was very clear play, rudely clear (that the ball had gone in). And not seeing it hurts your image in the media and in football.
“The mistake was clear, but I had three people in front of me and couldn’t see it.”
Hernández Hernández was rated 9.58, and was joined by Carlos del Cerro Grande (9.54) and Jesús Gil Manzano (9.46) on the LaLiga refereeing ‘podium’.
