With the end of the season saw Luis Enrique and his backroom staff leave Barcelona.
And among his staffs is his second in command, Juan Carlos Unzue. The 50-year-old just concluded his second spell with Barcelona having worked under Guardiola in 2010.
Interestingly, his name was among the candidates to take over from Luis Enrique. But he fell off the shortlist and Barcelona’s Champions League exit to Juventus must have played a big role.
Juan Carlos Unzue announced as new manager Celta Vigo
A latest tweet from Celta Vigo has confirmed that Unzue has been appointed as their new coach.
Celta would provide a good platform for him to continue his managerial career. However, it is not his first shot at club management, as he coached Numancia and Racing Santander.
He was also the assistant coach of Celta under Luis Enrique in the 2013/14 season. And he has now signed for the next two seasons as their manager.
The tweet read: “Juan Carlos Unzué, RC Celta coach for the next two seasons. You are welcome”
