Alvaro Morata returned to Real Madrid last summer after an impressive time at Juventus. But the Spaniard hasn’t had the best of time on his return.
Zinedine Zidane hasn’t shown much faith in him to the anger of the Real Madrid fans. Despite having far better stats and goal returns, the French boss has opted for Benzema ahead of Morata.
And transfer speculations have been hitting the news, hinting at a possible departure. Chelsea are the front runners for his signature with the prospect of reuniting with Antonio Conte once again.
However, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone sparked another round of rumors during the Champions League game.
The Argentine had a brief chat with Morata and it was believed he had asked him to join Atletico Madrid.
But Morato says that is not what happened and they only shared a joke.
“Simeone had a joke with me, one which had nothing to do with football.” He said via Marca.
“I know him because he played with [my agent] Juanma Lopez and he asked me for some croissants from the brand I have launched.”
The brand in question is Crosantino, a gourmet bakery with a shop in the centre of the Spanish capital.
