Here are the prospects the Broncos will coach at the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

We are less than one week away from the start of the Senior Bowl practices, and today, the rosters for the North and South teams were announced. This is noteworthy for Broncos fans because Vance Joseph and his newly hired staff will be coaching the North squad during this week.

We already know that the Broncos requested to have the reigning Heisman winner, quarterback Baker Mayfield on their roster. Well, Phil Savage granted them that wish as he is the marquee name on the North roster. However, Mayfield isn’t the only talented prospect to be coached up by the Broncos staff this upcoming week, so let's take a look at the entire North roster coached by our Denver Broncos.

Quarterbacks:

• Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma
• Josh Allen, Wyoming
• Luke Falk Washington State
• Tanner Lee, Nebraska

Thoughts:

Wow, the Broncos got potentially two top 10 picks in the draft on their roster at quarterback. I thought for sure that Allen would be on the South Team with Mayfield on the North but guess not.

This will give the Broncos an up close and personal look at the smaller, but crafty Baker Mayfield and the tall/big/athletic Josh Allen who may have the strongest arm you have ever seen. Which quarterback will the Broncos come away liking more?

As for the other two, Washington State’s Luke Falk is an interesting name to watch. He had a down year, but reportedly played most of the year with a broken wrist so that obviously was a factor. Lee was a late add with Mason Rudolph sitting out with an injury, but he’s much like Allen. He comes with a big arm but is also coming off an iffy year. A strong week could help him a ton.

Running Back’s/Fullbacks:

• Kalen Ballage, Arizona State
• Akrum Wadley, Iowa
• Jaylen Samuels, North Carolina State
• Dimitri Flowers, Oklahoma

Thoughts:

The Broncos currently have two running back’s and two fullback’s on their roster. The two backs are Kalen Ballage and Akrum Wadley. Ballage possesses impressive size at 6’3”, 230lbs while Wadley is smaller at 5’11, 191lbs but a bit more explosive. So it will be interesting how the two backs fair this upcoming week.

NC State’s Jaylen Samuels and Oklahoma’s Dimitri Flowers will have to prove if they can be lead backs at the next level and if they can contribute in the rush and passing game.

Wide Receivers:

• Michael Gallup, Colorado State
• Cedrick Wilson, Boise State
• J’Mon Moore, Missouri
• Allen Lazard, Iowa State
• Jaleel Scott, New Mexico State
• Braxton Berrios, Miami

Thoughts:

The Broncos ended up having a local product in Michael Gallup on their roster, and he’s a good one. He likely goes on day two of the NFL Draft and will be paired with two top ten quarterback’s, so his stock could continue to rise this week.

Another interesting prospect is Miami’s, Braxton Berrios. He’s coming off a 9 touchdown season for Miami and will look to impress as the next slot weapon coming into the NFL.

As for the rest, I admittingly do not a ton about, but man they all have some good size to them. Cedrick Wilson, 6’3 - 188lbs, J’Mon Moore, -6’3, 205lbs, Allen Lazard, 6’5 - 222lbs, and Jaleel Scott, 6’6 - 215lbs. That is some length right there.

Tight Ends:

• Mike Gesicki, Penn State
• Durham Smythe, Notre Dame
• Troy Fumagalli, Wisconsin
• Tyler Conklin, Central Michigan

Thoughts:

Mike Gesicki is the name to watch here. He’s coming a year with 57 receptions for 563 yards, and 9 touchdowns. He will need to show off his receiving, route running, and separation skills in mobile to see how he will fair as a receiver in the NFL. Also, we will see how he fairs as a blocker against the top seniors in this years class.

Wisconsin's Troy Fumagalli is another interesting prospect. He totaled 46 receptions for 457 yards and 4 touchdowns last season for the Badgers. Like Gesicki, he will need to prove his receiving, route running, and separation skills at Mobile as well as his blocking skills.

Offensive Tackles:

• Brett Toth, Army
• Brian O’Neill, Pittsburgh
• Tyrell Crosby, Oregon
• Cole Madison, Washington State
• Chukwuma Okorafor, Western Michigan

Thoughts:

Chukwuma Okorafor is the big name to watch here. At 6’6, 330lbs he is an imposing force as a blocker and is currently slated to potentially be a top 40 pick in April’s 2018 NFL Draft. He will need to prove his pass blocking skills and if he does that, his stock could continue to rise.

Oregon’s Tyrell Crosby is another interesting prospect to watch. He’s currently a mid-round selection, but a good week could raise his stock a bit in the coming months. Those one on one drills they do at Mobile will be key for him.

Brian O’Neill, Brett Toth, and Cole Madison are some other names to watch. How they fair in those one on one drills will help separate them from the pack. It’s probably my favorite part of the week.

Guards:

• Will Hernandez, UTEP
• Sean Welsh, Iowa
• Wyatt Teller, Virginia Tech

Thoughts:

The name to watch here is former UTEP guard, Will Hernandez. He is a monster in the trenches and might be the strongest player at Mobile. The tape also points to him being a monster in the trenches which means those one on one drills will be extra fun.

Keep in mind that the Broncos just hired former UTEP Head Coach Sean Kugler as their interior Offensive Line coach a few weeks ago. So he will be coaching up his former player at Mobile which will be interesting to watch. Hernandez is an early day two to potentially late day one prospect who may interest the Broncos.

Centers:

• Scott Quessenberry, UCLA
• Mason Cole, Michigan

Thoughts:

The Broncos who may be in the market for a center with current starting center Matt Paradis as an RFA and coming off a down year.

They will get to see Scott Quessenberry and Mason Cole as their centers this week. Neither is really considered a top prospect at their position, but a strong week from both can help raise their stock.

Defensive End:

• Kemko Turay, Rutgers
• Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Oklahoma
• Tyquan Lewis, Ohio State
• Jalyn Holmes, Ohio State

Thoughts:

Oklahoma’s Ogbonnia Okoronkwo will be an interesting player to watch. He is a pass rusher, but a tad on the smaller side. So how he fairs in the one on one drills will be key. Showing the bend and explosion will be key for him. If not, he will likely be used as a non-rush linebacker.

The Broncos will get a pair of former Ohio State Buckeyes on their defensive squad. Tyquan Lewis is coming off a 7 sack, 9.5 tackle for a loss season for them while Holmes had 2 sacks and 3 tackles for a loss.

Defensive Tackle:

• Harrison Phillips, Stanford
• Justin Jones, NC State
• B.J. Hill, NC State
• Nathan Shepard, Fort Hays State

Thoughts:

The Broncos will get an up close and personal look at one of the better interior defensive line prospects in the draft in Stanford’s Harrison Phillips. Like most former Stanford player, Phillips is well coached and prepared for the next level. I expect him to have a strong week under guidance from Broncos defensive line coach Bill Kollar.

The Broncos will also have a pair of NC State products on their interior defensive line and B.J. Hill is the best of the pair. Like the offensive trench players, the one on one drills will make or break their weeks.

Finally, Fort Hays State’s Nathan Shepard is a small school guy to keep an eye on. There are always a few of these small school guys who standout, could Shepard be that guy?

Outside Linebackers:

• Dewey Jarvis, Brown
• Fred Warner, BYU
• Garret Dooley, Wisconsin

Thoughts:

I am not too familiar with any of these prospects, but it is an All-Star game where you are there to stand out and make a name for yourself.

Fred Warner is the most established of the three, but that doesn’t mean much once you are here. Dewey Jarvis is a small school guy and like I said prior, these guys are always players to watch this week. Will they break out from the shadows or not?

Inside Linebackers:

• Skai Moore, South Carolina
• Mike McCray, Michigan
• Myles Pierce, The Citadel
• Nick DeLuca, North Dakota State

Thoughts:

Skai Moore is an undersized linebacker much like Atlanta Falcons linebacker Deion Jones. He is coming off a 93 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, and 3 interception season for South Carolina. He could have a breakout week here at Mobile and how does in coverage drills will be interesting to watch.

Mike McCray comes from a well coached John Harbaugh coached Michigan team and figures to show well at the Senior Bowl practices.

As for Myles Pierce and Nick LeDuca, they come from smaller schools and will have to show how they fair against top talent at the Senior Bowl. Myles Pierce didn’t face much NFL talent while playing at The Citadel so he’ll be interesting to watch.

Cornerbacks:

• Christian Campbell, Penn Stae
• Michael Joseph, Dubuque
• Duke Dawson, Florida
• Taron Johnson, Weber State
• Darius Phillips, Western Michigan
• Isaac Yiadom, Boston College
• Jamarcus King, South Carolina

Thoughts:

Florida’s Duke Dawson and Western Michigan’s Darius Phillips are probably the biggest names to watch here. Both are likely slot corners in the NFL and will need to show off their coverage skills in one on one drills during the week.

As for the rest, we have a few small school guys looking to stand out. Michael Joseph is coming from a Division III school while Taron Johnson comes from an FCS school. So how they fair against the top Senior receivers will be interesting.

Safety:

• Marcus Allen, Penn State
• Trayvon Henderson, Hawaii
• Kyzir White, West Virginia
• Armani Watts, Texas A&M

Thoughts:

Texas A&M’s Armani Watts is probably the most talented player of the group while fellow teammate, former Penn State safety Marcus Allen is behind them. Both are projected to be free safeties at the next level.

They will need to show off their cover skills on receivers, tight end’s and running back’s throughout the week.

West Virgina’s Kyzir White and Hawaii’s Trayvon Henderson will need to make a name for themselves this week.
