The Kist & Solak Show #44!

The Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles aren’t playing like defending champions and it culminated in a blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. There’s a lot of blame to be passed around, whether it’s coaching, play-calling, or execution.

On The Kist & Solak Show we try to identify what went wrong (everything) in the Eagles embarrassing 48-7 loss to the Saints. We also fight back on what we believe to be lazy narrative-fitting analysis from those covering the team.

The league’s dead last first quarter scoring team once against stumbled out the gates, starting the game with two three-and-outs and an interception. Surely offensive coordinator Mike Groh will face extreme scrutiny for their abysmal production, and some of it’s warranted. Still, there was a failure on the field from the players as well, including quarterback Carson Wentz. As Jason Kelce would say, “it’s the whole team”.

The defense was predictably leaky. Facing a monster of a passing attack and fielding an NFL Europe secondary, Saints’ head coach Sean Payton began utilizing “tendency breakers” by the second quarter, showing no fear of the Eagles’ toothless defense.
