Report: Paul Worrilow out for season after suffering ACL tear in Eagles practice

This sucks.

Eagles Linebacker Paul Worrilow suffered a torn ACL during Philadelphia Eagles practice on Tuesday, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Awful. It’s such a bummer that someone’s season ended on the FIRST day of OTAs. That’s football for you.

It was apparent that Worrilow was seriously hurt as soon as he went to the ground after banging knees with fellow linebacker Corey Nelson. He laid on the ground in pain for a considerable amount of time while the rest of the team took a knee around him. Worrilow eventually had to be carted off the field.

Losing Worrilow hurts the Eagles’ middle linebacker depth behind the injury-prone Jordan Hicks. Worrilow also offered the versatility to play other linebacker positions.

Worrilow’s injury hardly spells doom for the Eagles. He wasn’t a lock to make the roster. Even if he did, he projected to be the new version of Najee Goode.

Still, losing Worrilow for the season and then cutting Mychal Kendricks means the Eagles are thinner at linebacker than they were heading into OTAs. They still have a lot of bodies (eight) at that position, so they might not feel the need to add anyone.

Here’s wishing Worrilow a speedy recovery.
