France Boss Didier Deschamps has come to the defence of Manchester United star Paul Pogba, insisting the midfielder is ‘having a very, very good season’ despite his current run of poor form.

Pogba has come under-fire for his recent performances for the Red Devils, and even manager Jose Mourinho recently admitted he is not playing well.

The £89million man missed United’s last game, in the FA Cup against Huddersfield, due to illness but he is due back in the squad for Wednesday’s Champions League clash in Seville.

It it perhaps a chance for the midfielder to prove his critics wrong by returning to form against the Spanish side.

But, speaking to French broadbaster SFR, Deschamps said: “I have been watching what he is doing – he is not in difficulty.

“He had a little injury and he was ill.

“For now, he is having a very, very good season with Manchester United.”
