The Hoop Hounds, fresh off a win against Sam Houston State on Friday night will take on the Illinois State Redbirds this afternoon as play continues in the Cayman Islands Classic.

Friday night’s win saw another solid effort from guard Tyree Crump, who continues to lead the Red and Black with 13.0 points per game. But is was also a really solid showing from sophomore forward Nic Claxton, who finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds while running the court better at 6’11 than any big man in recent memory.

The Redbirds (2-1 on the year) will likely counter Georgia’s new up-tempo style with a smaller rotation heavy on guard play. Illinois State’s veteran squad is led on the young season by senior forward Phil Fayne, who’s averaging 18.3 points a 6.0 rebounds a game.

Tipoff is at 1:30 pm eastern with radio coverage across the Georgia Bulldog Radio Network. There’s no television coverage which I’ve found, but by all means check your local schedule for possible programming.
