Kearis Jackson commits to cap off huge week for UGA recruiting

All your blue chips are belong to Kirby.

The 26th ranked receiver in the class of 2018 and the #14 player in the Peach State according to the 247Sports composite rankings, Jackson is one of those prospects wanted by all the big boys. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Oregon have all offered the 5’11, 203 pounder. There’s good reason for that.

Jackson is a versatile weapon who could play in the slot, outside, or even in the backfield. He has the speed to get to the corner, but Jackson is also not afraid of contact and makes plays over the middle. If you watched the highlights above you noticed that he wouldn’t be out of place returning kicks, either. College coaches love that versatility.

The paradox of Kearis Jackson is best summed up by noting two accomplishments. One is that he has been laser timed as low as 4.57 seconds in the 40 yard dash. Not shabby at all. But the surprising feat is that Jackson is the defending Class AAA state shot put champion, having heaved a throw of 51 feet, 4 inches. That’s unbelievable full body strength for a guy his size. That can’t be taught.

It remains to be seen whether Jackson’s commitment is a precursor to the commitment of his good friend, top quarterback Justin Fields. But for now the Bulldogs just got a commitment from the top receiver in the state of Georgia, and moved a little closer to another top ten recruiting class. That’s never, ever a bad thing.
