Storylines

  1. Are the kids really alright? Georgia signed it's most highly touted recruiting class in recent memory in February, and this will be our first opportunity to see several of those guys in action. Jake Fromm will be quarterbacking the Red (second team offense, first team definitely ense). Richard LeCounte will be among the players in action for the Black (first team offense, second team defense).
  2. How far has Jacob Eason come? There’s really only so much you can tell from watching him up against the second team defense, but coaches have said this spring that Eason has profited from the competition Jake Fromm brought to town. Eason ratcheted up expectations last year with some electric throws in his first public performance between the hedges. Now he'll have the chance to juice expectations for his sophomore campaign.
  3. Will the crowd be ludicrous, or Ludacris? It's probably not reasonable to expect 93,000 screaming fans for Kirby Smart's second spring game in Athens. But with a solid contingent of blue-chip recruits coming into town, the bulldog coaching staff really does need fans to turn out and create a solid atmosphere for this one. While there is not a lot of upside to having a merely solid crowd, there is the opportunity for a PR face plant if an underwhelming crowd turns out for a free game on a gorgeous spring day with no real viewing competition.
  4. Will somebody actually commit to the “G”? Georgia is 2018 recruiting class is off to a bit of a slow start. Traditionally G Day has been a catalyst for recruiting efforts, never so much as last season. While it's unlikely we will get big news during the game, it will be interesting to see if any major targets pull the trigger on a public commitment in the hours and days following this afternoon's scrimmage.

We’ll also use this as the open thread for at least the first half of today’s festivities. This is as close to UGA football as we get for another four months. So let’s soak it in, shall we? Until later....

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
