Zimbabwe: MDC women want Mugabe to leave

Hundreds of Zimbabwean ladies protested in opposition to President Robert Mugabe on Saturday at Bulawayo by drumming representational unfilled pans to condemn insufficient food and serious economic troubles.

The ‘beat the pot’ occasion was planned by the chief opposition party- the Movement for Democratic change.

The women are obstinate that Mugabe ought to leave and grant room for a new government after free and credible elections.

“We are not preparing food any more at home. This is why we have brought these pots to declare they are empty. We don’t have foodstuff to cook in these pots. Please Mugabe and ZANU-PF, can you please leave?” Thokozani Khupe, Vice president of the MDC stated.

They have also assured to arrange more protests if President Mugabe rejects to leave power. Zimbabwe has been caught up in a serious economic disaster since the start of the year 2000.

The strike actions have become graver in the recent weeks with a Zimbabwean pastor Evan Mawarire condemning Mugabe on social networks with assistance from the Movement for Democratic change.
