Craig Bellamy claims Man United don’t have right manager to challenge Man City

Craig Bellamy has claimed that Manchester United don’t have the right manager in Jose Mourinho to overhaul Manchester City.

The Red Devils manager won the Europa League and the League Cup but finished in sixth place in the Premier League table in his first season in charge of Manchester United after Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal.

The 20-time English champions ended up in second spot in the Premier League this season to underline their improvement under the Portuguese head coach but Manchester United still ended up 19 points behind Premier League champions.

While Mourinho’s side finished in second place in the Premier League, Liverpool FC are second favourites ahead of their bitter rivals to win the top-flight crown in the 2018-19 season.

Manchester United suffered a 1-0 loss to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final on Saturday after Eden Hazard scored from the penalty spot in the first half to leave the Red Devils without a trophy.

Former Liverpool FC striker Bellamy claimed that Mourinho isn’t the right manager for Manchester United.

“Man United aren’t anywhere near them,” Bellamy told Sky Sports.

“I don’t believe they can get close to them. I don’t think they have the players and the manager to compete with them.”

Manchester United signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window as Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved in the other direction.
