Pundit claims Antonio Conte has contributed to Chelsea FC flop

Antonio Conte must accept some responsibility for Alvaro Morata’s poor form at Chelsea FC, according to ESPN FC pundit Alejandro Moreno.

The Spain international moved to Chelsea FC in a £58m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The Blues were initially linked with a move to sign Romelu Lukaku but the Belgian forward opted to move to Manchester United ahead of a return to Stamford Bridge.

Morata made a strong start following a return of nine goal in his opening eight games but the Spanish forward’s form has evaporated over the past couple of months.

The 25-year-old ended a 13-game goal drought last weekend when Morata broke the deadlock in a 2-1 extra-time victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-final.

However, Morata was omitted from the Chelsea FC team for both legs of their 4-1 aggregate loss to La Liga giants FC Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16.

ESPN FC pundit Moreno believes Conte must accept some of the blame for Morata’s underwhelming performances in recent weeks.

“I have to say I was wrong on Morata,” Moreno told ESPN FC.

“I thought he would be better than he has been.

“Now, Conte hasn’t exactly done him any favours.

“But Morata himself his performances individually have not been good.”

Morata has scored 10 goals and has made five assists in 25 appearances in the Premier League this term.

The Spanish star’s only Champions League goal came in a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the group stage.
