Frank Lampard warns Marcus Rashford about new Man United signing

Frank Lampard has warned Marcus Rashford that he will have to deliver whenever called upon by Manchester United following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old Chile international signed for the Red Devils last month after he moved to Old Trafford as part of the same deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan to head to The Emirates.

Sanchez will now bring further increased competition for a place in the Manchester United team for Rashford, who has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team this season.

Rashford only started 13 of Manchester United’s 25 Premier League games this season and has struggled to find consistent form under Jose Mourinho of late.

And Chelsea FC legend Lampard feels that Rashford is now going to have to start proving himself as worthy as a regular place in the first team under Mourinho.

Speaking to BT Sport last week, Lampard said: “We can’t keep saying that every player they bring in that Rashford has to learn from him.

“He’s a young, developing player of course, but at some point you want him to get his nose in this team and be a regular goal-scorer and creator.

“It’s not easy, and you wonder what the long-term picture is for Marcus Rashford.”

Rashford will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Newcastle United in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon next week.

The Red Devils are aiming to at least finish in the top four this season after they ended up sixth last term.
