Ryan Mallett firmly entrenched as the #2 quarterback behind
Tom Brady,
Bill Belichick resorted to his historic attachment to just two QBs. It would have been ludicrous to sacrifice a precious roster spot by cutting a productive player to accommodate Tebow. The now-free-agent's reaction was typically gracious:
"I would like to thank Mr. (Robert) Kraft, coach (Bill) Belichick, coach (Josh) McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization. I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback." This is the right move—no matter what
Bob Kraft wanted.
