New Enlgand Patriots Release Tim Tebow Saturday

Not that anyone is really surprised, but the New England Patriots announced on Saturday that 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow was cut by the team. With Ryan Mallett firmly entrenched as the #2 quarterback behind Tom Brady, Bill Belichick resorted to his historic attachment to just two QBs. It would have been ludicrous to sacrifice a precious roster spot by cutting a productive player to accommodate Tebow. The now-free-agent's reaction was typically gracious: "I would like to thank Mr. (Robert) Kraft, coach (Bill) Belichick, coach (Josh) McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization. I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback." This is the right move—no matter what Bob Kraft wanted.
