Violence Continues in the NFL

With an NFL lockout looming, the last thing that Miami Dolphin wideout Brandon Marshall wanted was to look down at a bloody stomach. Brandon Marshall was stabbed in the stomach by his wife. The initial report stated that Marshall slipped and fell on a vase, this was proven to be false. Marshall's wife told investigators that she stabbed Marshall in self-defense. Marshall does not have the best criminal background, so this could be the first time we hear about this down the line of many eventual times we hear about this specific subject. According to ESPN.com, people have seen the two people in physical disputes before. This could be bad news for Brandon Marshall and Dolphins fans around the nation.

This is not the first time that people from the NFL have got in legal trouble/accidents in recent memory. Multiple people in the NFL have already been victims of attacks, the person instigating alleged crimes or people just being plain dumb. Let's start off with the victims.

Victims

-Steve McNair. He was shot and killed by his 20 year old girlfriend. Remember this guy was married. He shouldn't have been fooling around in the first place, but he was the victim of a murder/suicide. This is absolutely tragic. McNair won a Super Bowl with the Tennessee Titans in 1999. He was killed on June 9th, 2009.

-Darrent Williams, a 24 year old defensive back (who was also a good personal friend of Brandon Marshall) was shot and killed outside a nightclub back in the year 2007. Should this man be dead right now? Of course not. He had amazing potentail as a player, and anyone who knew him said that he was a great person. But the choices that some of these people make, because they are well known names, such as going out and partying all the time does make it tough for these kind of big name players to avoid trouble.

Alleged attackers.

-Ben Roethlisberger. We all know about the Big Ben incidents. The first one, that he was not wearing a helmet when riding his motorcycle around. He was badly injured when he crashed, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. He was also accused of raping a young girl last year. This, disgusts me personally. Him along with Kobe Bryant do something, that they are never convicted of, and because they are not convicted, never have to talk about it again? Yeah right.

The Stupid Ones.

-Plaxico Burress. He shot himself in the leg with an unregistered gun. Need I say more about this guy?

-Donte Stallworth. Now this story is something for the record books. This is the definition of special treatment for a celebrity ball player. Donte Stallworth was drunk, got behind the wheel of a 2 ton vehicle. He proceeded to run over and kill a pedestrian. He plead guilty to DUI manslaughter and received 30 days prison time. Are you kidding me? This might be one of the most despicable acts I have ever heard of, not only in the sports world, but the world in general.

**Other**

-Chris Henry. I don't mean to be insensitive so I won't put Henry in "The Stupid Ones" but he wasn't necesarily a "Victim" either. Chris Henry fell out of the back of a moving pick-up truck being driven by his girlfriend and died. This was a tragic accident, Henry being so young and so gifted.

With all of these accidents revolving around our beloved NFL players, are our NFL Players being targeted? Or is the NFL slowly becoming a playground for thugs?
