Guentzel scores four as Penguins eliminate Flyers in crazy Game 6

Jake Guentzel scored four goals and registered an assist to the Penguins to an 8-5 win over Philadelphia and clinch their first-round Series. The Penguins won the series in six games thanks in part to Guentzel’s heroics. Guentzel caught fire in the second half of the contest, scoring in the final minute of the second period and adding another three in the third. That gave him four straight goals on his own before the Flyers finally ended his run. He was great throughout the series with six goals and 13 points in six games.

Sean Couturier did everything he could to extend this series one more game, Couturier missed Game 4 due to a knee injury, but  Couturier returned for Game 5 and managed to score the game-winning goal. In this game, he had hand in all five Flyer makers. A hat trick and two assists, all while playing with a torn MCL. Couturier was clearly Philadelphia’s best player in the series even after he was injured. Today, he didn’t get much help, and that is why his side is going home.

This certainly was a remarkable series for Couturier and it comes after a breakout regular season where he scored 31 goals and 76 points in 82 games.

Today, the Penguins showed exactly why they are back-to-back champs. If you give them the smallest window of opportunity, this group can flip a game on its head….  These Penguins will definitely have momentum going forward after taking care of their biggest rival in this fashion.
