Kopitar was so efficient that he picked up his fourth career hat trick with 7:33 remaining in the second period. He added another goal early in the third. This was the first four-goal game by a Kings player since Luc Robitaille accomplished the feat on Nov. 25, 1993, at Quebec. The Kings beat an Avalanche team that’s 15-3-1 in its last 19 games on home ice. latimes.com
Kopitar has been in the NHL for 12 seasons, He has had a hat trick three separate times, but had never scored four goals until Thursday. This is a player renowned for his consistency. However, last year was a low-point: Kopitar only had 12 goals and 52 points in 76 games last season.
This season, Kopitar is setting career numbers: (33) (53) (86) The LA Kings were perhaps the least talk about powerhouse going into the playoffs. A performance like this one will open some eyes no doubt.
These Kings’ are my “darkhorse” to win the Stanley Cup.
