Sekera suffered the injury during off-season training. The 32-year-old will now be sidelined indefinitely. Sekera has had some tough luck with injuries lately, as he also missed a significant amount of time with a knee injury. It’s a major blow to a team that’s already thin on the blue line. My guess would be 6-8 months off for this injury.

Sekera comes with a cap-hit of $5,500,000 the highest amongst the D-crops in Edmonton. After suiting up for just 36 contest a season ago… Things have gone from bad to terrible. The 32-year-old Slovak was a key puck-mover or Edmonton in the two seasons before his injury, putting up 30 points in 2015-16 and 35 in 2016-17. Now the team should actually start looking for real help.   We all saw what the team did without this key piece last season.
