Welcome to theROOTofsports! This weekend has provided tons of action in all our major sports! Lets break it down baby!

MLB- Going into the weekend we had many situations in the world of baseball. Well Friday night we had BOTH Diamondbacks and the Braves end their streaks! NFL- Over the weekend T.O talked for a while on NFL network and basically told everyone that he was still able to play as good as he's ever played before and that he'd play for any team that has " legitimate interest" in him.
Jeremy Shockey didint have much to say about his " seizure like" weight room incident over the weekend, he's mostly healthy and happy to be practicing again.
There has also been a lot of speculation over the weekend about Tom Brady. It is his last year on contract with the New England Patriots. When asked about it after practice Brady said that he's just going to "go with the flow"-whatever that means.
And finally the Dolphin's owner says he thinks his team will play in the super bowl this year.
Final Thoughts- I'm glad that T.O still has the confidence in himself to play. He better, after breaking a ton of career lows last season with the bills. He seems desperate when he says he'll play for ANY team..pshh ok! Maybe you will play for any team, but the teams you want to play for? well i'm sure theres a short list as always. I'd like to see him go to a young team like Tampa or Oakland, or maybe give Sam Bradford some help in St. Louis. Hopefully he'll have a breakout season with no drama and then retire..FOREVER. As for other news.. people should stop talking and wondering about Tom Brady, he's getting old and we need to see how he does this season before we start speculation about anything in the future. And as for the Dolphins? YAYY our owner has faith in us!! Congratulations! shouldn't they all have faith in their teams? i mean common..this makes headlines!?!

World Cup- USA gained some much needed confidence Saturday by beating Australia 3-1. Edson Buddle scored 2 goals and Herculez Gomez put the icing on the cake early in stoppage time, Two players who were not expected to make the world cup roster. This was the final tune-up game for the Americans before facing top-notch England June 12th. Jozy Altidore resumes practices with the Americans after getting injured last week.
The biggest news coming from South Africa this weekend was the Stampede that took place Sunday injuring 15. Before an Exhibition game between North Korea and Nigeria Sunday thousands of fans stampeded outside of the stadium after free tickets were being given away. The Police spokesman Eugene Opperman said that many people lined up at the stadium gates and when the gates opened there was a stampede. Police tried to restrain fans but things got out of control. 14 Civilians were slightly injured in the process and one police officer seriously injured. No fines have been issued so far.
USA 3 Australia 1 F
Nascar- Pocono Pennsylvania is where Sunday's race took place, and after a 2 hour rain delay the green flag wove. Clint Bower driver of the #33 car led the beginning portion of the race. As the laps went by Strategy was on every drivers mind, and then the caution came out with around 30 laps to go after Casey Mears driver of the #83 spun in turn 1. 8 Laps later the caution flew again for debree, with a little over 20 laps to go, many of the leaders including Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, and Jimmie Johnson came to pit which put Sam Hornish Jr. , Tony Stewart, and Montoya in front. When the green flag came out Denny Hamlin and teammate Kyle Busch came charging forward immediately. Denny Hamlin driver of the #11 Fedex machine recklessness drove himself up to the lead passing Montoya,Stewart, and Hornish Jr. all within a few laps. Coming around the corner ready to receive the white flag Hamlin was greeted with an unwelcomed caution flag after Kevin Harvik crashed out Joey Logano in turn 3. This gave drivers like Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch life as they would be brought together for a green-white-checkered finish. Denny Hamlin got a great jump as the green flag flew for the restart and immediately Tony Stewart blocked Kyle Busch. Later in the lap Kyle fought around Stewart for second place. As the white flag flew, Hamlin was already a second ahead of Busch. The race ended under caution as Kasey Khane driver of the #9 bud light machine had a violent crash on the backstretch, taking out Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr. and many others. As Kasey Khane went to pass A.J Allmendinger #43 he was forced into the grass, lost control of his car and slid into traffic sending him spinning airborne and taking and whole front off of 3 other vehicles. After the race was over and Hamlin took the checkered flag more drama occured on pit road. Joey Logano parked his car alongside of Kevin Harvick and got out of the car, only to be greeted by all of Harvick's Crew members. The two were seen yelling at each other and shouting expletives. In a post race interview Logano said that he didint know what was wrong with Harvick, why he had to dump him in turn 3 like that, he then threw a diss at Harvick and his wife saying, "I guess its not his fault, His wife wears the fire suit around the house and tells him what to do anyways so i don't know".
Sundays race was filled with its share of drama and good racing with Denny Hamilin taking the victory over Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart. Time will only tell what happens between the Logano Harvick incident. Next weeks race is at Michigan and its guaranteed to be good one.
