A lot of speed enthusiasts take part in Racing at different levels in order to fulfill their passion. They start at a very young age and go onto choose the direction that fascinates them more. When you talk about auto racing, there are basically two main categories – 2-wheel and 4-wheel racing. It can be said without a doubt that the latter of the two is more popular and followed widely across the globe.

If you go into further details, you will find out that Formula 1 is considered to be the pinnacle of motor sports and is the toughest 4-wheel racing category of all. On the other hand, the best class in 2-wheelers is considered to be Moto GP, which includes most of the tracks used in Formula 1 throughout the year to decide the championship.

Although there is no point comparing both the categories, yet one can easily claim Moto racing is more challenging than the 4-wheel racing. This is the reason why there are a lot of young racers participating actively in motorbike racing at the junior level in order to make it to reach the highest stage. They do have an option of taking part in the 4-wheeler category, but motorbikes attract them more, as they are thrilling to ride.

Even the greatest racing driver in the history for motor racing, Michael Schumacher, claimed that riding a bike was not an easy task, as he took a tumble during a test drive after his retirement. He suffered some injuries because of that incident, but luckily for him, there was nothing much serious. Afterwards, the legendary racer decided that he would no longer take part in any motorbike action.

On the other hand, there have been some Moto racing drivers, who have also tried to make a move into 4-wheel racing, but decided to stick to their original job in the end. A prime example was of Valentino Rossi, who is considered one of the all time best in Moto GP history. Since he is an Italian, he was offered to test a Ferrari alongside Schumacher back in 2006.

Although the veteran biker did an impressive job and picked up things very quickly, he decided not to go any further in this category. So, one can argue that he found the 4-wheel racing to be more challenging, as that was not what he had trained for all his life.

However, there are certain factors that clearly tell that riding motorbikes is more challenging in comparison to cars. One of the reasons behind it is that the rider has to balance the motorbike perfectly in order to keep it running smoothly. This does not mean that balancing a race car is an easy job, but it is comparatively more balanced than a motorbike.

Furthermore, the weight is also an issue for the bikers. Although cars weigh much more than motorbikes, yet the handling is completely upon the biker in case of the latter. Therefore, it is quite a bit of a challenge to ride a motorbike, especially during racing.

Driving in the wet can also be tough, when you are racing on a motorbike. There is very little grip available for the drivers, thus they are always at a risk of taking a tumble. Moreover, there are chances of sustaining more injuries in this sport despite the fact that the riders are fully equipped with the protective gear such as helmets, gloves, special jackets, shoes and other accessories. The reason for it is that the bikers have a direct impact when they fall whereas it is the car that takes all of the impact in case of an accident.

When driving a 4-wheeler, it is relatively easier to take the corners. However, things are difficult when it comes to riding motorbikes. You can easily lose control and end up into the gravel. So, considering all of these aspects, it can be easily said that Moto racing is more challenging and risky compared to others forms of racing. As a result, one must always focus more on security and put on all of the protective gear before hitting the track.
