Chelsea are looking to take advantage of AC Milan’s precarious financial situation by making an offer for star centre back Leonardo Bonucci, according to reports.

Milan are currently in turmoil and US-based hedge fund Elliott Management have been forced to seize control of the club after former owner Li Yonghong missed the deadline to pay back part of a £265million loan.

The Italian giants have already been banned from taking part in the Europa League for breaching Financial Fair Play rules and are now looking to balance the books, with a number of last summer’s high profile arrivals available for transfer.
