Bad Night For Inter In Defeat

It was not a good evening for Inter of Wednesday as they suffered their first defeat of the preseason, 2-0 to Swiss side Sion and maybe more importatly saw summer signing Radja Nainggolan limp off with an injury.

Luciano Spalletti mixed things up in the first half when he tested out a 4-2-3-1 formation with summer signings Nainggolan, Matteo Politano and Yann Karamoh all playing behind Lautaro Martinez.

That formation lasted 24 minute when Nainggolan limped off after feeling a muscular twinge and youth team player Xian Emmers came one.

Minutes later Sion went ahead thanks to a Daniele Padelli’s howler on a corner allowed Neitzke to nod in relatively undisturbed.

It was almost 2-0 when Carlitos hit the woodwork and Padelli denied Adryan on the rebound, while Karamoh skimmed the upright.

Danilo D’Ambrosio put a header over, then Mauro Icardi replaced Martinez, but Sion doubled their lead through a Baltazar curler halfway through the second half.

Sion 2-0 Inter

Neitzke 27 (S), Baltazar 70 (S)

Inter: Padelli; Dalbert (D’Ambrosio 46), De Vrij (Ranocchia 46), Skriniar (Zappa 75), Asamoah; Gagliardini (Roric 69), Borja Valero (Salcedo 61); Politano (Candreva 46), Nainggolan (Emmers 69), Karamoh; Lautaro (Icardi 61)
