Why Teddy Bridgewater to the Steelers makes sense

With Big Ben getting closer to retirement with each passing day, the Steelers are going to need to start looking at the future of there quarterback position. Roethlisberger is getting older and his durability is coming into question on if he can make it through an entire season and the lack of options on the depth chart make it a concern if something were to happen to him. Lets be honest, Landry Jones is not a good QB and in many games that he has filled in for Ben have been a stall on offense. Insert Teddy Bridgewater into the Steel City.

Josh Dobbs is not an NFL quarterback and never will be. Mason Rudolph is a 2-3 years development away from being a starting Quarterback that you can feel comfortable with leading your team to the playoffs. This is where a guy like Teddy Bridgewater can come in and lead the Steelers if Big Ben retires or goes down with injury. You dont want to throw Rudolph in too early as we have seen time and time before with a young promising QB that gets sacrificed to the NFL gods before he is ready. Bridgewater can come in and instantly give Pittsburgh a shot in the arm should the worst happen.

If Pittsburgh plans on seeking-out quarterback help this  season they’d be smart to take a chance on Bridgewater. Still, there’s some concern that his body won’t hold up in a division as physical as the AFC North. Bridgewater has always been criticized for being a narrowly-built player, but his recent knee injury raises more concern than anything.Needless to say, if there’s a reason why the Steelers should stay away from Bridgewater, that would be it.

That being said, I still believe the ceiling for Bridgewater is much higher than people in the NFL realize. No, he hasn’t seen a ton of snaps in his short career, but he’s shown the will-to-win and ability to lead a team into the NFL Playoffs.

If the Steelers can lock up Bell and keep the wide receivers in place this would be a entertaining team for Bridgewater to come to. It would instantly make Teddy a top tier QB in the AFC and give him another shot at proving he can be an elite QB.
