Nicolas Otamendi (Argentina), Bernardo Silva (Portugal), Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium), Raheem Sterling (England), Kyle Walker (England), Danilo (Brazil), John Stone (England), Gabriel Jesus (Brazil) and David Silva (Spain) all started for their respective countries in the first round.

Benjamin Mendy (Francee), Fabian Delph (England), Ederson (Brazil) and Ilkay Gundogan (Germany) did not feature in the first round.

Fernadinho (Brazil) came on as a substitute for the last 30 minutes of the game.

Vincent Kompany (Belgium) missed the game through injury.
