Tribord EasyBreath Full Face Snorkel Mask Review

Why You Need a Full Face Snorkel Mask

Full face snorkel masks have seen a drastic increase in popularity as more and more people recognise its superiority, compared to a regular separate snorkel and goggles setup. They are easier to use and can be used by expert and beginner swimmers alike.

The way they are designed allows you to have a much wider field of view, they make it easier to breathe as you can breathe through both your nose and mouth, and they also stop water from entering your breathing tube, preventing choking.

In-Depth Review of the Tribord EasyBreath Full Face Snorkel Mask

Considering full face snorkel masks are not suitable for deep diving and intensive swimming, we decided to test the masks in calmer waters. We went to the beach on a Saturday, and then to a relatively big lake on a Sunday.

We wanted to see if these masks could be great for a relaxing snorkel that a beginner would be taking part in, and how they fair when it comes to viewing clarity and breathing, whether it be in the slight waves of the sea, or the calm waters of the lake.

Size and Ease of Transport

The first thing we need to see was how easy these masks are to transport. You are going to want to travel with one, whether it be on a plane when you are going on holiday, or just in your backpack while you hike to a great snorkeling spot.

The mask may seem a bit bulky, but it is in fact quite lightweight and easy to store. You can fit one in your travel bag or backpack without too much issue, it won’t weigh you down in the slightest.

Our Rating – 5/5

EasyBreath Technology

Clearly, the most important aspect of any snorkel mask is how easy it is to breath using it. One of the major differences between a regular snorkel and a full face snorkel is the fact that with a full face mask you can breathe through both your nose and your mouth.

EasyBreath Technology allows you to breathe normally, as in inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. This is done by having two separate air tubes for your oxygen and carbon dioxide. This also helps prevent fog build-up.

Our Rating – 5/5

Visibility

One of the biggest benefits of a full face mask is the field of vision. The masks have a huge 180-degree field of vision lens which allow you to see so much more compared to a regular pair of goggles.

The lens on the Tribord EasyBreath is made from shatterproof polycarbonate, and the clarity is incredible. You can see everything in detail without any warping, this mask will easily expand your horizons once you are under the water.

Our Rating – 4/5

Dry-Top Technology

The breathing tube is almost completely waterproof and limits water from entering the tube as you snorkel. The Dry Top technology prevents flooding of the water tube, even when it is completely submerged.

If water does enter the breathing tube, and from what we found this amount is minimal, the waterfalls to the bottom of the mask, and can be blown out when you are above the surface of the water again.

Our Rating – 4/5

Anti-Fogging

One problem many snorkelers will bring up is the issue of their masks fogging up while they are mid snorkel, sometimes for no other reason than a deep exhale. We have experienced this with goggles we have tested before, but things change with a full face mask.

The Tribord EasyBreath is fitted with a double air-flow system, which means that the air you breathe in, is brought in by one tube, and extracted through another, therefore keep the mask free of carbon dioxide and preventing fogging.

Our Rating – 4/5

Durability

The mask itself is incredibly well made, we can tell that the materials used are of high-quality and the construction of the mask is very strong. There is high attention to detail, with more focus on quality than extras.

Like we mentioned above, the shatterproof polycarbonate lens can take a beating, and a few accidental bumps will barely leave a mark. Obviously, scratches can’t be completely prevented, we got a small one on the side of one mask, but it was barely noticeable.

Our Rating – 5/5

Versatility

One of the only downsides of the mask is that it can’t be used for very intensive swimming, it is designed for calmer waters and for gentle snorkels. If you get caught in a few waves, it will barely make a difference though.

It is not suggested that you free dive with this mask, it is more suitable for swimming where you can easily reach the surface again so you can purge the mask of any water build up. For the dives we had thought, it worked a treat.

Our Rating ⅘

Price

The Tribord EasyBreath falls into the midrange price scale. It is almost the definition of paying for what you get. If you want something that is long-lasting and does its job properly, spending the money on this mask is well worth it.

If you are looking for something a bit cheaper, then the Greatever Full Face Snorkel Mask is an option. It is a great mask if you are not looking to invest a lot of money, especially if this is the first mask you are buying.
