Team News And Predicted Line-Up Ahead Of Newcastle United Clash

Manchester United visit St. James Park for their Premier League clash against Newcastle United today.
The Red Devils will look to get back-to-back wins in the Premier League after beating Huddersfield Town 2-0 at Old Trafford last time out. Jose Mourinho’s men will be confident of securing another win against the Magpies, who are embroiled in an intriguing battle to avoid relegation. United’s prime focus will be to extend the gap between them and third-placed Tottenham who won the North London derby this weekend. Manchester United fans will look to new signing Alexis Sanchez to deliver again against the lowly Magpies, after his brilliant performance against Huddersfield with an assist and a goal to say the least.

Provisional Squad against Newcastle United

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Romero, Pereira Defenders: Valencia, Darmian, Jones, Lindelof, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw, Young Midfielders: Matic, Carrick, McTominay, Herrera, Pogba, Mata Attackers: Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Sanchez, Lukaku

Team News

Defenders Daley Blind and Eric Baily are not available for their Premier League tie with Newcastle United with both defenders sidelined with ankle problems according to the reports. Also, Marouane Fellaini is still out as the Belgian continues to recover from a left knee operation. Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned to full training this week but will not feature this weekend as the game against Newcastle United has come too soon for the striker. The Swede has not featured for the Reds since the end of 2017. We might also see the club captain Micheal Carrick making his first league outing his season after recovering from his operation according to Manchester United official website.

Predicted Line-up Against Newcastle United

Jose Mourinho will have a near fully fit squad to face Newcastle United while hoping for his goal scoring trio of Lukaku, Lingard and Sanchez to deliver. New signing Sanchez shone in the previous match for Manchester United and fans will be looking forward to see him score again.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Jose Mourinho will look to field the same formation against Newcastle United that he played against Tottenham with a back four and two holding midfielders while allowing Paul Pogba to move freely in midfield and do what he does best.

Goalkeeper: David de Gea

There is no doubt of David de Gea starting for Manchester United with his flawless performances for the Red Devils in the previous seasons. If there is one player who without any hesitation gets his place in the predicted line-up, it’s him. No other stopper comes to anyone’s mind when referred to Manchester United even to Jose Mourinho.

Defence: Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw

Antonio Valencia and Chris Smalling has maintained their position in the starting eleven for quite some time now and Mourinho may not want to change them. Marcos Rojo may get preference over Phil Jones after his own goal blunder against Tottenham. Also, Smalling and Rojo played well together in their previous outing against Huddersfield Town. Luke Shaw will be the one who takes his place in the predicted starting eleven rather than Ashley Young.

Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez

We may see Paul Pogba restored to the starting line-up after being dropped in the previous match against Huddersfield Town. Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are the best holding midfielders in the current United squad and with both fit it is unlikely to be changed. Although Micheal Carrick is fit again, it is highly doubtful that Jose Mourinho would start him ahead of Matic and Pogba with Carrick fit for the first time this season. Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez will be the attacking midfielders in this predicted line-up. Sanchez is no doubt to be a starter with Lingard also being favoured by boss Jose Mourinho given his current run of form. With Mhkitaryan gone and Sanchez taking over on the left-wing, Martial might have to work harder to beat-off a player like Juan Mata and secure his place in the starting eleven. With two perfect world class wingers in the squad in Sanchez and Martial, the squad now looks set to fire not having to choose from midfielders Mhkirtyan, Mata and Lingard to play on the other wing along with Martial.

Striker: Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku stands the first choice forward for the Red Devils without any hesitation. And with Sanchez coming into the squad, getting goals might not be any problem for United. Being a Manchester United supporter, a win will be the only thing that comes to my mind. Let’s hope for the best and cheer the lads for a league double against Newcastle United. GGMU….!!!
