Barcelona’s final January signing: Good news as coach speaks up

Clubs around Europe have about three days left to seal up any pending deals in the winter transfer window and Barcelona are moving very close to signing Arthur Henrique from Gremio.

The Catalans have followed the Brazilian for some time now and Barcelona’s representative had previously met with the player and his camp that caused a bit of controversy at the time.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Robert Fernandez, has already told the player that his transfer is a priority for Barcelona.

The 21-year-old is regarded as the best midfielder in the Brazilian league last season.

And now comments from Gremio coach, Renato Gaucho, has given a big boost indicating that a deal is very possible.

Gaucho said: “I was in constant communication with the club (Gremio) president during my holidays.”

“Both Arthur and Luan could be sold depending on the club and offer that arrive. The rest of the squad I’m sure will continue with us, it’s all under control.”

Arhtur has a 50 million euro release clause and Barcelona are unwilling to match such figures. His contract with the Brazilian side runs until 2021 and Barcelona plan to seal the deal now and send him back on loan to Gremio.

The Catalans have already filled their quota of three non-EU players in the team which poses another stumbling block to Arthur’s arrival.

The midfielder would play the first half 2017 back in Brazil.
