Premier League Predictions: Newcastle to win, Chelsea, City and Liverpool to stay on top?

This Premier League match week will probably bring to Newcastle United their first win for the season. At the top side of the table it looks like that the trio of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool will continue sharing the  first place.

Chelsea vs Manchester United

This is a game which should answer the question “Are Chelsea title contender?”. The Manchester United fans should have felt miserable when Newcastle were leading 0:2 at Old Trafford before the international break. Jose Mourinho’s team bounced back and eventually won the game, but Newcastle defended to deep and lacked enough defensive quality.

Chelsea are a totally different animal and I think that United will struggle at Stamford Bridge. The Red Devils are defensively weak team this season and I expect Eden Hazard and other Chelsea strikers to exploit that.

Chelsea to win: 3:1

Bournemouth vs Southampton

Bournemouth are a very interesting side. At the end of September they lost 4:0 against Burnley at Turf Moor and 2 weeks later won 0:4 against Watford on their visit to Vicarage Road.

Southampton have won 10 point less that the Cherries and aren’t good enough this season.

Bournemouth to win: 2:1

Cardiff City vs Fulham

Cardiff have a chance to win 3 point against a team who they play against last season in the Championship. If they do that, they will increase their chances to survive in the Premier League.

Fulham play a very good football and I think that it is a matter of time to start winning points. The Cottagers have some very good players in their squad and They would get something out of their visit to Wales.

Draw: 1:1

Manchester City vs Burnley

This should be a victory for the hosts and the could win it in a landslide if they score an early goal. If they do Burnley will need to decide how to play against a superior side when they are loosing the game. However, if the Clarets have a good day, they can cause some troubles to the SkyBlues. Both team have no fresh injury worries. Danilo is off for City, but hasn’t been playing for a while as he has been recovering from an ankle injury.

Manchester City to win: 2:0

Newcastle vs Brighton

Newcastle have been impressive during the first half at Old Trafford and despite that Man United have won the game, I think that the Magpies are now ready to turn their fortunes and to start winning points. Brighton aren’t an easy side to play against and both teams know each other very well as they came back together in the Premier League few seasons ago. Jonjo Shelvey is back for the Rafael Benitez side. His a very important player for Newcastle and I’m sure that he will help them a lot within the next few months.

Newcastle to win: 1:0

West Ham vs Tottenham

Spurs have had their ups and downs at the beginning of the season but now sit just two point below the top three teams. A win at London Stadium will keep them in the title race. The Hammers have recovered after a poor start of the season and save the Mauricio Pellegrini’s current project. It is a London derby and everything is possible, but I have a feeling that Spurs will win it.

Tottenham to win: 0:2

Wolverhampton vs Watford

I hope that this game is on any TV channel I would watch in any of the online streams. Watford have lost their previous game by 4:0, they have been literally trashed at home by Bournemouth.

Wolves are doing great at the moment and I’m full of admiration for them. Both teams don’t have any injuries after the international break and I think that it is going to be an exciting fixture to watch.

Wolves to win: 2:1

Huddersfield Town vs Liverpool

The Reds famous front three who used to demolish the oppositions’ defence s last season haven’t score a goal in 3 consecutive games – against Napoli in the Champions League and against Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League. If it wasn’t Daniel Sturridge to score an exceptional equalizer at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool would be sitting 3rd in the table 3 points behind Chelsea and a point behind Manchester City. This should mean something for Klopp and I think that it is very likely that he would start Daniel Sturridge and Xerdan Shaqiri on Liverpool’s visit to Huddersfield.

The hosts need points and also need to start winning games if they want to stay in the Premier League. I think that Liverpool are good enough to win this fixture, but we never know what Dave Wagner’s players could produce on their home ground it they have a good day.

Liverpool to win: 0:2

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha is doubtful for Crystal Palace and without him they have less pace and aren’t that sharp when they are going forward. Richardson has returned for Everton and now they are an offensively stronger side. Still the Toffees should be very careful as Crystal Palace have won 6 points on their visits and have recorded 2 wins and 2 losses away from Selhurst Park.

Everton don’t have any fresh injury worries and are a team that have a bigger potential than their current results show. I think they will be winning this home fixture.

Everton to win: 2:0

Arsenal vs Leicester City

Here they are at the top of the table. I want to take some credit for my projection made in the article Keeping an eye on Arsenal, publish on September 14th.  I still thin that the Gunners were too much criticized by various football experts who went harsh on them after the Gunners loss their first opening Premier League fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea. I want to remember anyone who has forgotten the Gunners game against Chelsea that they have got back into the game after loosing 2:0 at Stamford Bridge and were unlucky to loose after Marcos Alonso scored a brilliant goal in the 81st minute.

Since then Arsenal have been brilliant and deserved to be among the top team, only 2 points behind the Premier League leaders. They have probably been lucky to play against many of the so-called “lesser team”, but we all know that anyone could win against anyone in the English top flight.

Leicester are a very good side who has won 2 and lost 2 on their away visits. So, it will be a tough game for Arsenal, but I have a feeling that they will keep their winning this weekend despite that they are one of the Premier League sides who has been hit with injuries after the international break.

Arsenal to win: 2:1
