Premier League predictions: Burnley, Leicester and Newcastle to win

This should be a Premier League match week in which the things would start getting back to normal. “Normal” means predictable. In other words Manchester United and Arsenal to get back in the top 6 and the so called lesser teams like Watford and Bournemouth who made the start of the season very exciting, loose their current 4th and 5th positions. We will see?

Fulham vs Watford

Watford have enjoyed a very good start of the season, but there will be a reality check. A team like Fulham are better than their current League position suggests, so they will start winning more games. However, I still think that the Hornets are good enough to take something of this fixture.

Draw: 2:2

Burnley vs AFC Bournemouth

Bournemouth are the better side this season or at least better prepared to win games at this stage of the campaign. Burnley are no longer in the Uefa Europa League, a competition that has probably affected their performances in the Premier League and the are currently sitting at the bottom of the table. Are they a bottom club, however? Not at all and I think that whoever underestimates Sean Duchess side, will be disappointed.

Burnley to win: 2:1

Cardiff City vs Manchester City

No one would predict that Manchester City would loose their Campaigns League home game against Lyon, but they did. This comes to say that the SkyBlues are not the same bulletproof team as they were last season. So, Cardiff probably have a chance to win a point, but they really need to be at their best. At the same time, I don’t believe that Pep Guardiola’s side will record another disappointing result.

Manchester City to win: 1:3

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United

It looks like that Crystal Palace are better prepared to win this home fixture against Newcastle who are still about to win a game in the Premier League. However, the Rafael Benitez led team have played against Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in the first 5 fixtures and I don’t think that there are many side who can win agains those four.

Crystal Palace have won two away games – against Fulham and Huddersfield. They are a good side, but I have a feeling that they will not be able to beat the Magpies

Newcastle to win: 1:2

Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town should have won more than 1 point from their home games against Cardiff City and Crystal palace, but they didn’t and now things don’t look good for the Dawid Wagner’s side. it is not going to easy for them as welcome Tottenham, then go to Burnley and play Liverpool at home.

Leicester City are a good team and this is one of the fixtures that they can win.

Leicester to win: 2:1

Liverpool vs Southampton

Liverpool look very impressive so far this season. They win even when they don’t play well and this is something that would help them to win the Premier League. Southampton have improves after an unconvincing start of the season and now they can afford to go to Anfield and play at their best in hope of winning something. Everything is possible in the Premier League, but I still think that Liverpool will get another 3 points.

Liverpool to win: 3:1

Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Jose Mourinho was probably right to demand respect from the English sporting press, when they have started questioning him and his team after their home loss against Spurs. The Portuguese is not a good communicator, however. Otherwise he should have  told the press that United are a very good side, but one that still needs to improve certain things to become bulletproof. He would have told the journalists that his team needs to improve their defensive performance and his strikes must stop missing chances. I have always thought that United will improve as they have very good players. Could they win the league? Probably not, but they will try and will get back to the top four.

I’m full of admiration for Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo has done a great job at Molineux and his team plays like a very good football. I would not surprised if Wolves chase for Top6 next season, they are historically a big club in England and it is a matter of time for them to reclaim their place among the best clubs in the country.

Manchester united to win: 2:1

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs play well, work hard, but there is something missing as they haven’t finished their last few games as they should. They should have drawn at Watford and draw or win against Inter in Milan. I think that Mauricio Pochettino knows what to do and Spurs will improve. He has spoken after the surprising away loss against Inter and said:

“I am going to stick with the club, I am not going to criticise the club. All the decisions are our decisions and of course always with the club until the end. Maybe we are still here in five years or maybe in one week we are not here, but we will always be talking well about the club and helping them to achieve all they want. The only way we can stop that (criticism) is winning games and if we don’t win, everyone is going to criticise more than now. And you know what is going to happen when we don’t win games – the first responsible is me.”

Not the Spurs players should respond and get behind their boss, who is one of the best in the European football at the moment.

Tottenham to win: 1:3

West Ham United vs Chelsea

Chelsea are a much better side, but this is a London derby and the Hammers have drawn two and won two games against the Blues within the last 3 years. They Chelsea look like the most likely winner at London Stadium, but I’ll tip West Ham to draw the game.

Draw: 1:1

Arsenal vs Everton

Everton have been very unconvincing against Huddersfield and West Ham, while Arsenal have improved their game and started winning points. It looks to me that this will be another Arsenal win, despite that the Gunners have to play on the back of a UEFA Europa League game. Luckily for them it was a home fixture and they avoided traveling.

Arsenal to win: 2:1
