Championship Predictions: Fulham and Derby to win? Draw in Ipswich?

Tags: club fulham draw

Premier League clubs are playing in Champions League this Tuesday, but in Championship it is just another regular gameweek. Clubs are still fighting for play-offs and second place, and it seems that nothing is over at a bottom too. Few direct opponents will face each other in this Championship matchweek and it will be interesting to see which clubs will get a win this Tuesday.

Fulham and Derby to win? Draw in Ipswich?

Preston played excellent against Wolves on Saturday, but Aston Villa is in quite better form. When it comes to their home performance, they have lost only one game at home so far. Preston is good in away games, but playing against Aston Villa this season is tough challenge for every club. Since they’ve lost against Fulham on Saturday, they will need all three points from this one if they want to continue their fight for second spot successfully.
Aston Villa to win: 2-0

Barnsley vs Burton

Although Barnsley plays at home, I expect a surprise from Burton. Their away performance is not so bad this season, and Barnsley’s new manager, Jose Morais, is not proven in Championship yet. In their last two games, Burton kept a clean sheet, but this time they need to score too. Luckily for them, Barnsley conceded 21 goal at home this season, and it will be hard for them not to concede again on Tuesday.

Burton to win: 0-1

Brentford vs Birmingham

Birmingham has been alright lately, but Brentford is fighting for play-offs, and games like this are the ones they have to win. Neal Maupay scored and had an assist against Sunderland on Saturday, and considering a fact that he has been in excellent form for Brentford lately, he can continue that form and score again against Birmingham on Tuesday. When it comes to Brentford’s defence, another clean sheet can be a big boost for the team as they have conceded 40 goals this season.

Brentford to win: 3-0

Middlesbrough vs Hull

Somehow Middlesbrough is still in fight for play-offs, and somehow once again they have an easy game. If they don’t find a win against Hull, sacking Garry Monk might be the biggest mistake they’ve done this season. However, Hull is in awful form, they have won only two away games this season and they have scored only 12 goals away from home. Middlesbrough is good in defence, and although they can struggle against some better sides, they can certainly score against Hull.

Middlesbrough to win: 1-0

Millwall vs Sheffield Wednesday

Both clubs are in quite a good form lately, but when it comes to home performance, Millwall is far better. They haven’t lost in their last eight home matches and they have defeated better sides then Wednesday. Lee Gregory has been in good form for Millwall lately, and it will be hard for Sheffield Wednesday’s defence to keep him from scoring. Since Sheffield Wednesday has scored only 13 goals in away games so far, Millwall have a good chance to keep a clean sheet.

Millwall to win: 2-0

Nottingham Forest vs Reading

Once again, I expect a minimum amount of goals when Nottingham Forest plays. Especially when they play against Reading, a club that has been in awful form lately. Both clubs will need a win, but neither of these two doesn’t seem to be good enough to win lately. So in games like this, the obvious choice is a Draw.

Draw: 0-0

Sheffield United vs QPR

Now, considering the fact that Bristol City and Fulham will face each other, clubs like Sheffield United will give their best to get closer to play-off spot that they fight for. When it comes to away games, QPR has won only two this season, while Sheffield United has been excellent at home. Billy Sharp scored twice in their last league game against Leeds, and Leon Clarke is still in amazing form. It will be a tough challenge for QPR defence to stop at least one of them from scoring.

Sheffield United to win: 2-0

Bolton vs Sunderland

As much as I would love to see any of these sides winning, this is just one of those games from which draw is the only outcome you can see. Bolton is good at home, while Sunderland is good away. Both clubs are struggling to score, and both clubs concede a lot. There is a good chance for both clubs to find a back of the net on Tuesday, but I’m not sure if any of them will find it twice.

Draw: 1-1

Bristol City vs Fulham

Best four games will be played on Wednesday. Let’s start with Bristol City and Fulham. Everything has changed since the last time they’ve met! If you look only the last ten matches, Fulham is in best form in Championship, with 8 wins and two draws. Bristol City on the other side has only 10 points, with only two games won, four draws and four losses. In this moment, Fulham is fighting for a straight promotion, while Bristol City is trying to stay in play-offs. Both clubs are playing attractive football and both clubs probably score, but Fulham is having a better chance of winning.

Fulham to win: 1-2

Derby vs Leeds

The only game with TV coverage will be Leeds again, but this time away from home against Derby County. Getting back from 2-0 down to 2-2 against Bristol City was much easier than getting a good result against Derby County. Leeds United is far from play-offs, while Derby is still fighting for a second spot. Matej Vydra and David Nugent have been excellent so far, and considering the fact that Derby can rely on their defence, it will be hard for Leeds not to concede on Wednesday.

Derby to win: 2-0

Ipswich vs Cardiff

Here is a tough challenge for Cardiff. Their away performance has not been great this season, while Ipswich has been good at home. Cardiff has straightened their defence, but they are still not winning enough away games and that can continue on Wednesday. Although both clubs will fight to win, it is hard to say if any of these two sides poses enough quality to win a game like this. Both teams will probably score, but draw will be the most likely outcome.

Draw: 1-1

Wolves vs Norwich

Wolves are in a bit of a bad form lately, but a home game against Norwich is certainly a good opportunity to get back on their winning run. When it comes to defence, Wolves have not conceded too many so far, and Norwich is still struggling to find a back of the net. Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota are both fit to play now, and it will be hard for Norwich’s defence to keep them from scoring.

Wolves to win: 2-0
