Alvaro Morata: Conte has the most faith in me!

Alvaro Morata is about to discuss personal terms with Chelsea and to undergo a medical after the London club agreed to pay a £58 million fee for the player. It could rise to £70 million with add-ons to Real Madrid for the 24 year-old Spaniard.

Chelsea have managed to sign one of the best strikers in the European football and it looks like that the Conte’s good relationship with Morata was the most important factor to make the transfer possible. It was Antonio Conte who has bought signed Alvaro Morata for Juventus 3 years ago from Real Madrid. Now he has managed to sign him for Chelsea.

“I’m going to the team managed by the coach who has placed the most faith in me and that’s great for me. I’m very happy”, said Alvaro Morata. Earlier this yea in April, Morata spoke highly about Antoni Conte, saying:

“Conte is the manager who most “bet” on me, without even ever having had me in his team. I’m very conscious of that. He bet on me for Juventus but left before I arrived, then he wanted me at Chelsea come what may. He knows me better than I could imagine, I’m sure, and that’s important. It motivates you to work hard, train well. I feel indebted to him because he’s the coach that most trusted in me, most wanted me, who made me feel I could perform at the highest level. And yet I’ve never had the fortune to actually work with him. I’m sure sooner or later I will.”

Morata have netted 20 goals for Madrid in all competitions last season. However, this wasn’t enough to guarantee him regular place in the starting eleven.

“I’m not disappointed. I’ve won four titles here, among those my second Champions League with Real Madrid but now I only think of putting on the Chelsea shirt. Thank you very much to all the Madridistas who have supported me. I will always wish the best to Madrid”, told Morata speaking about his move to London.

Morata said that this summer was quite strange for him as many things happened. “In the end tomorrow I am joining a club who have wanted me for many years, with a boss with whom I have spoken constantly, so I am very happy. I have been giving everything in training to be ready for whatever happened. But I was clear that this exit was my objective. It is a pity to leave Madrid, but I hope it all goes well for me at Chelsea”, said the gifted Spanish striker.

With Alvaro Morata replacing the outgoing Diego Costa, it looks like that the Chelsea managed Antonio Conte will be fully equipped to chase and eventually win second consecutive Premier League title. Read Ben Davill’s analysis about Antonio Conte’s project at Stamford Bridge.
