History:
The Rawlings company was founded in 1887 by brothers George and Alfred Rawlings. Outside of baseball Rawlings has experienced a ton of success. And of course Rawlings has experienced great success in baseball. The company’s first big break came in 1906 when they sparked a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. The original ownership did not last long however In 1955 Spalding bought Rawlings, and began using it to manufacture baseballs. Spalding kept the Rawlings name and they also continued the company’s success. In 1957 the company brought upon the Gold Glove award, which remains a long lasting tradition in baseball today. After Spalding’s short lived ownership of the company they were forced to sell it. As far as the current owner, Newell brands bought out the company in 2016 and they remain owner today.
