It seems as if the comment passing trend between the cricketers has already commenced prior to the upcoming India-Australia series.

The much awaited contest between the Kangaroos and the men in blue is all set to kick off with the first T20I in Brisbane on November 21. Looking at the team’s composition, it certainly appears that the later have a much more settled combination with the members having greater form and expertise as compared to the former who have an entirely new combination with several fresh and inexperienced faces.

Despite this shortcoming, the hosts have not held themselves back from carrying further the comment passing trend against the visitors prior to the long and hectic tour. Veteran pacer Mitchell Johnson and speedster Pat Cummins recently came into the limelight with their controversial comments targeted at the Indian skipper.

Kohli had recently taken to social media to announce that he would look forward to indulge in non – aggressive play during the tour but will also not encourage aggressiveness if initiated from the opposition’s side. Both Johnson and Cummins have openly discarded this declaration by the skipper.

Recently appointed Australian skipper Aaron Finch also joined the discussion with a satirical comment aimed at his Indian counterpart. The 32 year old sarcastically remarked that Virat may not be aggressive but would definitely be verbal throughout the series as it is his natural tendency while playing a game in any format and he cannot help it.

He further said that being verbal and aggressive brings out the best in him and he loves being the same irrespective of the format or the opposition. His unique approach could only be explained as a strategy employed by him was to pump up his teammates on the field in order to accelerate them to perform better.

“Virat plays the game that gets the best out of himself, and I think that at times, for him that’s about being verbal for his team, and pumping them up and being right in the contest. He loves that.”

Finch has also happened to get a chance to play with Kohli during the IPL season, albeit for different teams. He has a good experience of watching him closely. The 32 year old must have meant it when he said that Virat may not be aggressive as declared by himself but he definitely cannot help being verbal, something he uses to get the best out of himself and his team mates while playing any format of the game, be it for India or for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

“He plays the same way for everyone, whether for India or in the IPL. So, the verbal won’t change whatsoever – I think what he was referring to was his aggression, but ‘verbal’ is an encouragement for teammates. It’s not abuse or anything like that.”
