Former Chelsea Player Hails London rival’s manager

Arsenal defeated Everton, 2-0, courtesy of goals from Aubameyang and Lacazette, in their recent English Premier League fixture and are now placed sixth on the point table.

Arsenal have not yet become one of the contenders for the coveted English Premier League trophy, but they certainly have made some visible improvements under the tutelage of Unai Emery, who replaced Arsene Wenger at their helm.

Arsenal registered their fourth consecutive victory in the league as they defeated Everton, 2-0, in their recent game – which also saw Arsenal keep a clean sheet for the first time under the Spaniard – and but they must improve before they can become a title contender.

Former Chelsea striker, Tony Cascarino, thinks Unai Emery is leading Arsenal on the right direction. He said, “Arsenal have definitely taken a step forward since Wenger left the club in the summer. Without the ball they are far better than under the Frenchman: everybody clearly knows exactly what their jobs are. Closing down opposing teams has become one of the most important things in football in recent years.”

Unai Emery has implemented a build-from-back-style of football at Arsenal, while it still has a lot more to improve, they certainly look better than they were when Arsene Wenger was the coach. The former Chelsea striker said, “The likes of Manchester City and Liverpool excelling, and Arsenal are at last showing they are developing in this area. Emery can take credit for that, and this Arsenal side look capable of winning the Europa League, a competition he won three years in a row in charge of Seville. Premier League clubs have such an advantage, with their huge depth of talent.”

Author’s Take:

Arsenal are slowly progressing under Unai Emery. He inherited a fragile defence – which could be exploited easily – from Wenger, and it is an area where Emery has to work on. Arsenal’s clean sheet against Everton is a positive result for Emery and those at Arsenal, as it was their first since Emery took over.

New inclusions Lucas Torreira and Guendouzi has so far impressed at Arsenal and look set to be a regular in Emery’s plans, while Lacazette and Aubameyang have started to find the back of the net.
