Chelsea could miss out on Gonzalo Higuain as Juventus do not ‘need’ to sell the Argentine
Things have been interesting this transfer window thanks in part to Ronaldo’s blockbuster move to Juventus. A move season as crucial to Serie A’s revival, Ronaldo’s arrival in Italy brings a lot of eyes to the Italian top flight. The Old Lady have not only tightened their grip on the Scudetto but also helped the entire Italian game. It seemed that they will have to pay a price for this.
After all, Ronaldo didn’t come in cheap. His £500,000-a-week wage forced Juve to watch their back after the risk of FFP breach always lurking. However, the Italian Champions are smarter than we all have given them credit for.

According to Football Finance Expert, Fausto Zanetton Juve have planned for this move all summer. They have let go of a lot of their top earners to facilitate Cristiano’s big money-deal. Zanetton told Sky Sports:
“Juventus is very good at squad management. They have moved to Gianluigi Buffon, Lichsteiner to Arsenal, Asamoah to Inter Milan.”
“Those were expensive players that they got off their books.”
“According to our calculations, they don’t need to sell Higuain in order to that. They might do it if its a good deal for them. They won’t sell him cheap, that’s for sure.”
Lichsteiner’s move to Arsenal consequently, could have aided Juve in their bid to have both Higuain and Ronaldo at the club. Chelsea are hot on the trail of the former Napoli hitman and are willing to let go of Morata and Giroud to fund a move for the 30-year-old. Sarri is reportedly a huge fan of Higuain and is keen on a reunion.
Author’s Take
Juventus is a brilliantly run club. Their business in the market is always exemplary, and this time with an uncharacteristic deal for Ronaldo, they have been able to capture to the world’s attention.
Zanetton might have been true in that Juve don’t need to sell Higuain but it will be difficult to fit him and Ronaldo in the same eleven. Therefore, they might want to sell him. Chelsea might come in a bid but the Blues will have to offer considerable money.
